[Hideaki Maejima]
Born in Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture in 1939. Although he began sculpting entirely self-taught, through the hardships he experienced in his childhood and youth, he became aware of being alive and received divine revelation, deciding to pursue the path of wood carving, carving life into wood.
After solo exhibitions in New York, he held exhibitions in six major cities and across the country. He established his unique art with a warm perspective that explores the human inner self and works that express various emotions such as joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure, earning high praise from a wide audience.
